Very Important Note About How Miniature Labradoodles Are Bred

Before going ahead and buying a Miniature Labradoodle from any breeder that’s offering to sell you one, you have to know how these dogs are bred for first so that you know what to ask any breeder who claims they have a real, legitimate Miniature Labradoodle.

The most common way that Miniature Labradoodles are bred for, and the method most ethical breeders follow when aiming for this specific dog, is cross breeding one purebred Labrador Retriever parent and one purebred Miniature Poodle parent.

However, not all breeders follow this specific protocol when breeding for a Miniature Labradoodle, which is why you have to be very careful.

What some breeders will do, without exactly telling you that they followed this specific protocol in breeding for the Miniature Labradoodle, is adding a 3rd dog breed into the mix in order to get this specific dog.

These breeders will first attempt to mix the Labrador Retriever parent with a random, small sized breed, in hopes of getting a small sized dog, and will then cross breed this small sized dog with a Miniature Poodle to achieve a “Miniature Labradoodle”.

They go through the first step of mixing the Labrador parent with another different small sized breed in order to increase their chances of the final offspring being tiny in size, which enables them to market it as a “Miniature Labradoodle”, while it’s not really one.

By having three different breeds being part of the mix, this dog is no longer a true Miniature Labradoodle, and you’re getting cheated out of your money by a shady breeder. So look for a true Labrador and Poodle mix.

So, before doing business with any breeder that’s claiming to have a true Miniature Labradoodle, ask them for documents and whatever else proof they have that this dog is 50% pure Labrador Retriever and 50% pure Miniature Poodle.

Miniature Labradoodle Recognition

Because it’s not a purebred dog, but is instead a designer dog breed that comes as a result of cross breeding different purebreds together, the Miniature Labradoodle isn’t officially recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC).

The Miniature Labradoodle is, however, officially recognized as a designer dog breed by the Dog Registry of America (DRA).

Always remember to stick to the principles of proper training methods such as positive reinforcement techniques, and also make sure you train your Miniature Labradoodle puppy from a young age in order to make this process as easy as it can be.

Teacup Labradoodle Living Conditions

Suitable For Apartment Living

Because the Miniature Labradoodle lays on the smaller side when it comes to dog sizes and needs much less space than other larger dogs out there, this dog is perfectly suitable for apartment living if you’re worried about getting them to live indoors where no access to an area like a backyard is available.

You just have to keep in mind that you’ll have to give them their daily dose of physical activity and exercise, which can be done either inside the house or outside, wherever you prefer.

It would probably be best if you set aside a certain amount of time every day to give the Miniature Labradoodle the exercise they need outside the house, as that would be a nice change of scenery both for them and yourself.

Long walks outside the house or visits to the dog park are probably two of the Miniature Labradoodle’s favorite physical activity outlets.

Anywhere from 45 minutes to 60 minutes a day of physical activity should do the trick just fine for Miniature Labradoodles, ensuring they lead a healthy life and feel content while at it.

Miniature Labradoodle Health

On average, and assuming that you’re able to provide the necessary care for your Miniature Labradoodle and everything they need to live a healthy life, you can expect them to live anywhere from 10 to 15 years, which is the normal range for dogs of similar size as the Mini Labrapoo.

Miniature Labradoodle Care

Grooming

The Miniature Labradoodle dog is perfect for people looking for a low maintenance dog that doesn’t need frequent care on a strict schedule when it comes to grooming practices.

Minimal Shedding

Besides the fact that the Miniature Labradoodle is a very low maintenance dog that doesn’t need that much of a strict grooming schedule in life, they’re also very low shedding dogs that make them an excellent choice for people who may have allergies to dog hair or those that just don’t want to spend the rest of their lives cleaning after their dog’s hairs that fall all over the house, especially during shedding seasons.
